What are the key ideas behind viral marketing? This course explains how things catch on and helps you apply these ideas to be more effective at marketing your ideas, brands, or products. You’ll learn how to make ideas stick, how to increase your influence, how to generate more word of mouth, and how to use the power of social networks to spread information and influence. Drawing on principles from his best-selling book, “Contagious: Why Things Catch On,” Professor Jonah Berger illustrates successful strategies for you to use buzz to create virality so that your campaigns become more shareable on social media and elsewhere. THE EVANS FOUNDATION

Board Member June 2022-Present

The Evans Foundation was formed in 1983 as a Not-For-Profit New York Corporation by Anita E. Seits a retired New York City Investment Banker. At the time of her retirement Mrs. Seits was President of Garvin Bantel, a Wall Street firm. During her career, Anita Seits founded Garban a subsidiary of Garvin Bantel and one of the five treasury dealers in the U.S. In 1974, Garban became the first broker to list prices of Treasury issues on video screens. Anita Seits established the Foundation which bears her family name so as to share her good fortune with certain charitable entities. Her rise as a daughter of a New York City Policeman to head a prestigious Wall Street firm was no small accomplishment for a woman at that time. Born and raised in Queens, she graduated from public high school. While acting as Secretary in the New York School System, she pursued an investment career thus changing her career in midlife. At its height, Garvin Bantel employed 300 employees and dealt mainly in Federal Funds and U.S. government Bonds for institutional investors. During its early years, under Mrs. Seits' direction, the Foundation supported Medical Research in the New York area. Upon her retirement to Florida she transferred the day to day management of the Foundation to her grandchildren, Kevin P. Seits and Megan Seits Zavawski, both residents of Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The grandchildren have effectuated the transfer of the Evans Foundation to Pennsylvania, where it is now operated as a Pennsylvania Non-Profit Corporation. The policy of the Foundation has also been changed to concentrate on small Delaware County charities, mainly in the educational fields. Libraries, schools, and children services dominate the policy areas; however, the managers continue to look for innovative, marginalized charitable activities often ignored by the larger foundations.

VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE

During my time at Bryn Mawr College, I taught somatic experiencing flows to Bi-College Theatre Program and for a Bryn Mawr Alumna’s non-profit. I was also involved in Laurel House IPV fundraising via performing theater monologues. At Bryn Mawr, I was also a Senior Traditions Representative. I was also a member of Gardening Club, Beekeeping Club, and Greens Club where we organized and participated in breakout groups with the Board to advocate for divestment from fossil fuels. I also directed 8th grade students at The EM Stanton School, a Philadelphia K-8 school, with Professor Catharine Slusar. I am a board member for The Evans Foundation, a family foundation focusing on educational fields, medical institutions, and charitable entities. I am a volunteer panelist for Holisticism on Eating Disorder Perspectives and Boundaries. I was a volunteer yoga instructor and meditation teacher at Great Valley Chinese School. I provided complimentary childcare to parents experiencing homelessness as they went through job interviews with The Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN). IHN is a partnership of congregations that helps families who are facing homelessness. This organization mobilizes community resources and helps families regain their housing, their independence and their dignity. For several years, I volunteered on Sundays at 5am to make breakfasts for folks experiencing homelessness at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Norristown.
